The "Duc Loi Sai Gon Art Construction & Maintenance Joint Stock Company" is a painting-collaboration with the Vietnamese artist Nguyen Duc Loi. It started out during a one month stay in Ho Chi Minh City where I was part of the albb Open Studio Program - "A window until the rains come". I was there to work with and introduce my own take on Vietnamese lacquer painting to a Vietnamese audience. Nguyen Duc Loi approached me with the idea that he would be making a copy of my ongoing work in the open studio as I was making it. Eventually it led us to make the painting "Duc Loi Sai Gon Art Construction & Maintenance Joint Stock Company" in close cooperation. We began the work within the frames of the "A window until the rains come"-program and later moved our work to a friend's place at the outskirts of town to finish it off just before I was going back at the end of the month.
